The Quo Vadis restaurant in the Marmosaal (Marble Room) opened in 1907 on the island platform at Salzburg Hbf. Badly damaged in World War II, the restaurant was reconstructed in 1947, and the original marble features remained on the walls until September 2009. The restaurant (and dance hall, for the room was used as such throughout its life) has been demolished to make way for two new through platforms in a rebuilt station, which will be finished in 2014. The marble wall paneling, together with one of the vast urns and two chandeliers, have been preserved in case they can be reused in the underpass being built under the existing platforms.
