Following withdrawel by ÖBB more than 30 years ago, narrow-gauge locomotive U24 (built by Krauss in 1902) has been plinthed in the centre of the Seeparkplatz in Bregenz, available for children to play on.
On 19 January 2005, as a result of negotiations between the city of Bregenz and the Bregenzerwaldbahn Museumverein, the Director of building Services for Bregenz, Dr. Bernhark Fink, reported to the City Council that agreement had been reached, which will enable to locomotive to be restored to working order, and to run again on the line outside Bregenz, between Bezau and Schwarzenberg.
The loco, which remains the property of the City, has been replaced by life-expired Uh3, formerly ÖBB 498.03 (built Krauss 1930) in the playground, and moved to the Bregenzerwaldbahn for restoration.
Before removal, U24 is seen in the Seeparkplatz. |
