The 760mm railway line between Mauendorf and Unzmarkt was opened in 1894.
The line was closed between Tamsweg and Mautendorf in 1988 by the owners, Steiermarkische Landesbahnen, and a private museum line, the Taurachbahn, was opened in 1990 between the end station, Mautendorf, and the last station before Tamsweg, Sta. Andra.
The line is only open in the summer months, working a single return trip from Mautendorf to St. Andra im Lungau on Saturdays and Sundays in June and September, on Fridays in July, and with two daily return services for most weekends in July and August. |
